When Professor Jiří Pelcl first introduced the concept for the Logs collection (sofa, lounge chair, ottoman, side table), we knew instantly that we had a powerful design on our hands. The composition of cylinders floating in space catches the eye immediately and functions as a striking interior object.

Yet, when it comes to furniture, looks are not enough. The question we hear most often when people see Logs is: "Doesn't it hurt? Can it actually be comfortable to sit in?"

The answer is yes, it can. And you will be surprised just how comfortable it is.

However, the path to the final product was an intensive masterclass in prototyping and ergonomics for us.
The visual purity of Logs is rooted in geometry. But the human body is not geometric. The challenge was therefore to transform rigid shapes into an object that naturally embraces you when you sit down.

We tested various diameters and spacing of the cylinders to ensure the seat wouldn't press behind the knees while still providing stable support for the pelvis. Then, shifting the upper backrest cylinder by just a few centimeters dramatically changed the entire seating experience. We fine-tuned the distances and angles so you could lean back and relax, but still get up from the chair with ease.

Comfort is also defined by the hardness of the polyurethane foam, combining different types and layering them. The cylinders are firm at their core but optimally yielding on the surface, allowing them to adapt to the body’s weight. When you look at Logs from the side, you will see that you don't sink into it like a classic soft armchair that makes it hard to stand up. On the contrary, Logs holds you in a natural, slightly dynamic posture.

This is precisely why the collection has been so successful in semi-public and commercial spaces, hotel lobbies, galleries, or modern offices. It is exactly the type of furniture where you spend time with a laptop, over a quick coffee, or while networking. Yet, it works just as beautifully at home as an unmistakable standalone piece.
